“Orchestra Sci: the CO₂ hunters” is published by the “RecerCòmics” project of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and shows how the ICIQ spin-off was created to fight the climate change
The ICIQ spin-off Orchestra Sci features in a comic published by the Government of Catalonia under the “RecerCòmics” project of the Ministry of Research and Universities. This comic books collection presents successful cases of entrepreneurship arising from research conducted at universities and research centres in Catalonia.
Our “Orchestra Sci: the CO₂ hunters” narrates the successful story of this ICIQ spin-off, created in 2017 with the goal of combating climate change. Through cutting-edge technology, Orchestra Sci can separate CO₂ resulting from several processes. Then, this gas can be reused for other purposes, completing a circular economy process. This serves as an example of how technology and knowledge can be transferred from ICIQ to society to address global issues.
The story features Prof. JR Galán (Orchestra Sci Scientific Advisor and ICREA group leader at ICIQ), Dr. Cristina Sáenz de Pipaón (CEO), Elías Daura (CFO), José Luis León (CCO and Mechanical Workshop Unit Manager at ICIQ) and Álvaro Reyes (CTO).
The comic, aimed at bringing scientific research closer to youth audience, was created by Xavier Roca and Sofia Audí Añó, and it is available online in English and Catalan.
