“Blau de Prússia” is a podcast for chemistry enthusiasts that we co-produced with Tarragona Ràdio in 2022 with support from the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI). Today, on the first day of this major event aimed at high school students to discover all the educational proposals available to them, we have been talking about our podcast and discussing the role of science education and communication in sparking interests and vocations. We have also taken advantage of the presence of authorities, organizers, and participants to answer key questions, such as: What is the state of science in Catalonia? Are we at a good national and European level? or How important are science communication and vocations in our territory?
One of the future challenges is capturing CO2 from industrial activity to minimize environmental impact. This will be one of the topics we will be exploring in the new season of “Blau de Prússia,” which we will continue to produce from our facilities throughout 2023. Laia Pellejà, ICIQ’s Administrative and Communications Director, has expressed that we want to continue focusing on the transmission of knowledge through the podcast format.
Joaquim Nadal, the Minister of Research and Universities, has appeared on the first episode of the new season of “Blau de Prússia” to discuss the importance of Tarragona’s chemical industry and the challenge of minimizing the effects of climate change. Josep Pallarès, Univeristat Rovira i Virgili Rector, has emphasized the importance of educating young people about the challenges they will face in the future. Maria Mas, the general manager of AEQT, is committed to attracting talented people with good training to work in the chemical industry of the future.
Jordi Mas, the director of the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation, and Marc Portella, the head of educational projects and scientific vocations at the same institution, have agreed that producing a podcast like “Blau de Prússia” in Catalonia is an excellent idea because it is important to explain at all levels what decarbonization is, and how we are working to achieve it.
The reference podcast on chemistry is starting its second season due to its positive reception by the general public. We want to continue this positive impact on the population and aim for more interaction with listeners. The stories, guided and documented by Israel Macho and Laura Hernández, will seek more direct contact with the audience. The episodes will be available as always on Spotify, Enacast, and the ICIQ and Tarragona Ràdio websites.
