Margherita grew up in Roma (Italy), and she moved to Bologna (also in Italy) to perform her university studies. She obtained both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemistry from the University of Bologna, focusing on the synthesis of pharmaceutical relevant scaffolds. In October 2016 she started her doctoral studies under the supervision of Prof. Antonio Echavarren at the ICIQ in Tarragona. During her PhD she worked on the development of different transition metal-catalysed reactions involving alkynes, with a main focus on gold(I)-catalysed transformations. In 2019, she spent three months in the group of Prof. Daniele Leonori at University of Manchester (UK) as visiting PhD student. After obtaining her PhD title in November 2020, in January 2021, she joined the group of Prof. Paolo Melchiorre at the ICIQ as postdoctoral researcher. In her spare time she enjoys working out and running, reading books, and cooking for her friends.
