Johannes Westphäling
Johannes did his Bachelor studies of chemistry at RWTH Aachen University. He has learned standard laboratory techniques during his studies, ranging from simple purification methods (extraction, columns etc.) to handling of air and moisture sensitive substances. During his bachelor thesis, he focused on organic chemistry and worked on enantioselective C-N coupling reactions. His current master studies focus on catalysis, bioactive compounds and synthetic methodology. The project of his bachelor thesis was continued during the first (out of three) research internship in his master studies. The second internship focuses on theoretical work, in particular the computation of reaction rates. His stay at the ICIQ will be his final internship during his master studies.
