Prof. Yamila Verdecia Reyes

Prof. Yamila Verdecia Reyes is an assistant Professor of the Department of Organic Chemistry, University of Havana and member of the Research Group (SOAN-UH) at the Laboratory of Organic Synthesis, focused on the design and synthesis of multifunctional molecular blocks based on small molecules for medicinal chemistry applications. She has developed numerous works in collaboration with other multidisciplinary research groups which had contributed to the introduction of innovative molecular entities in the drug portfolio of the pharmaceutical industry in Cuba. Her major achievement is based on the development of new neuroprotective agents, holding the co-authorship of several patents in the area of neurodegenerative disorders.
