Paolo Orlando
Paolo is a 2nd year organic chemistry Ph.D. student at the University of Milan, under the supervision of Prof. Daniele Passarella. He obtained his MSc Degree in Chemical Sciences at the University of Milan, majoring in Organic Chemistry. During his master’s thesis (supervised by Prof. Pierfausto Seneci) he developed innovative hits and leads as PD-1/PD-L1 cancer immunotherapy agents. In this occasion, he synthesized and characterized novel compounds using NMR and UPLC-MS techniques. After his graduation, he worked for six months as a research fellow in the group of Prof. Sara Sattin working on the ERACHRON (Eradicating Chronic Infections) project, founded by European Research Council. The aim of his work was to synthesize a library of novel small molecules as RSH inhibitors to target bacteria persisters. Then, in January 2022 he started his Ph.D. at the University of Milan (Chemistry Department) working on a collaborative project between the group of Prof. Daniele Passarella and the chemical company Indena aimed to develop greener synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
