Prof. Estael Ochoa Rodriguez

Prof. Estael Ochoa Rodriguez is a full professor at the University of Havana, Organic Chemistry Department and Head of a Research Group (SOAN-UH) at Laboratory of Organic Synthesis, focused on the design and synthesis of multifunctional molecular scaffolds based on small molecules for medicinal chemistry applications. He has developed an intense national and international collaboration working with multidisciplinary research teams and has been able to introduce innovative molecular entities in the drug pipeline of the pharmaceutical industry in Cuba. His major success relies on the development of novel neuro-protective agents, holding the co-authorship of several patents granted in the field of neurodegenerative disorders.
