ICIQ group leader and ICREA Professor Rubén Martín has won the “2019 Organic Letters Outstanding Publication of the Year Award” from the ACS Division of Organic Chemistry and Organic Letters. The Award is given to scientists who published, in the previous year, an outstanding letter demonstrating both creativity and impact in the field of organic chemistry. As a recognition, Prof. Martín has been invited to attend the ACS Fall National Meeting in San Francisco and give a lecture about the publication.
Prof. Martín has been awarded for his letter “Ni-catalyzed Reductive Deaminative Arylation at sp3 Carbon Centers.” The work describes a mild, modular and simple protocol to forge sp3 C–C bonds with an excellent chemoselectivity profile and broad substrate scope using a Ni-catalyzed reductive deaminative arylation strategy. The method can be applied to late-stage functionalization of molecules, thus providing a window to explore new structure diversity in lead drug generation.
