Project description

The Bioinspired nanotechnologies lab is an interdisciplinary research group working on materials science, nanotechnology, surface and electroanalytical chemistry, and microbiology, that aims to deliver advanced functional materials as solutions for healthcare and environmental applications. High-precision nanofabrication methods and advances in engineering surface functionalities are harnessed to deliver a “tool-box” of nanoarchitectures and chemistries to create the next generation of diagnostics.

Our advances in controlling the preparation of building blocks, built on or from porous structures, assembled in hierarchical structures, with tunable wettability and surface chemistry, able to display selective bioreceptors and stimuli-responsive properties, are essential to facilitate a deep understanding of the relationship between nanoarchitecture/displayed functionalities and function, a key milestone in designing sensors for human/animal health diagnosis, and environmental monitoring.
