Beatriu de Pinós Grant | Akhilesh Kumar Sharma

Automated search for computational photocatalysis (AUTOCOMPHOTO)

Grant description

The Beatriu de Pinós programme (posdocBP) focuses on the attraction of post-doctoral research talent. The programme, funded by the Direcció General de Recerca de la Generalitat de Catalunya (General Directorate for Research in the Government of Catalonia) and managed by AGAUR, was launched in 2005.

The goal of the calls in the Beatriu de Pinós programme is to provide individual funding support for the recruitment and incorporation of post-doctoral researchers in the Catalan system of science and technology. Researchers are allowed to freely choose their own research project in any field. Candidate selection is performed through an independent, transparent and competitive evaluation process.

The posdocBP programme is aimed at the professional development of research staff in three areas: leadership, independence and consolidation. Besides, it promotes international mobility, multidisciplinary and intersectoral collaboration, and fosters supplementary training of researchers in transversal skills.

Dr. Sharma got his PhD form the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay (Mumbai, India) in 2014. In 2015 he joined Prof. Keiji Morokuma’s group in the Fukui Institute for Fundamental Chemistry, Kyoto University (Japan) as a Post-Doctoral Fellow. He joined Prof. Maseras’ group in March 2021 with a Beatriu de Pinós grant and is carrying out computational studies on different photoactivation processes involved in organocatalysis and transition metal catalysis.
