It offers ICIQ researchers access to cutting-edge mass spectrometry equipment, enabling the characterisation of the diverse array of compounds commonly studied at the institute
The High Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRMS) Unit provides ICIQ researchers with access to state-of-the-art mass spectrometry instruments capable of characterising the wide range of compounds which are typically of interest in the institute.
The apparatus include most ionization options, sample introduction and chromatographic techniques which are required for mass spectrometry problem solving in chemistry.
In addition to routine sample analysis, the unit also supports research projects which are more dependent on mass spectrometry experiments, such as mechanistic studies, intermediate identification, impurity characterization or biochemical applications.
Moreover, the unit provides comprehensive training to ensure optimal use of the facility and appropriate data interpretation.
This Unit has received funding from the project EQC2021-007052-P funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by the European Union “NextGenerationEU” PRTR “EQC2021-007052-P/AEI/10.13039/501100011033”
Waters Alliance HPLC coupled to MicroTOF Focus (Bruker Daltonics) with electrospray (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) options.
Waters LCT Premier liquid chromatograph coupled time-of-flight mass spectrometer (HPLC/MS-TOF) with electrospray ionization (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) options.
BRUKER Autoflex matrix assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) time-of-flight mass spectrometer.
Waters liquid chromatograph (UPLC) coupled to MaXis Impact (Bruker Daltonics) hybrid analyzer: quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometer (UPLC/MS-QqTOF) with electrospray ionization (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) options.
TimsTOF flexTM, a tandem mass spectrometer with QqTOF geometry, incorporates trapped ion mobility separation and a dual source ESI/MALDI in a single instrument. MALDI source possess the Bruker SmartBeam™ 3D laser with true pixel fidelity for rapid, label-free MALDI imaging at high-spatial resolution. These unique features make timsTOF flexTM the platform of choice for OMICS studies, as there is not compromise between sensitivity and resolving power at maximum speed.
