Access to multinuclear salen complexes using olefin metathesis

Metathesis of allyl-functionalized (chiral) salen complexes under mild conditions affords their polynuclear analogues. A successful route towards various bimetallic complexes and a step-wise preparation of a macrocyclic, tetrametallic structure are reported.
