UHPLC-MS

Two-dimensional UHPLC Chromatography coupled with MS and DAD detection: Automating Method Development and Improving Chromatographic Resolution in High Throughput Experimentation

Project description

The aim of this project is the acquisition of a two-dimensional high-performance liquid chromatograph (UHPLC-2D) with diode array detector (DAD) and mass detector (MS), a high capacity autosampler and automation of chromatographic method development. The equipment will form part of ICIQ's High-Throughput Experimentation (HTE) laboratory and will provide a solution to problems of co-elution of compounds with the desired analytes that occur randomly in screening campaigns.

In addition, the new equipment will have an automated method development software, and the ability to combine multiple solvents to form the mobile phase and multiple columns to expedite chromatographic method development. Access to such equipment would speed up the analysis process of screening campaigns, helping to achieve the unit’s objectives of accelerating the process of exploring chemical space, generating chemical libraries and providing quality data to feed AI/ML systems. The HTE laboratory at the ICIQ is unique among public research institutions in Spain, and the acquisition of the requested equipment would make it a competitive laboratory in the field of HTE, offering unique opportunities that have not been available to the Spanish scientific community until now.

The total budget for this equipment is €364,528.10, and the granted funding amounts to €182,264.05.
