Acquisition and installation of a dynamic thermo-mechanical analyzer (DMA) for the characterization of mechanical and viscoelastic properties of materials as a function of temperature
The DMA analyzer allows the mechanical properties of materials, particularly polymers, to be characterized as a function of temperature. The correct characterization of these thermomechanical properties is critical to determine the resistance, stress, elasticity or temperature at which a (thermo)plastic overcomes the glass transition and can be deformed more easily.
This instrumentation is not available as a service in the territory, and is even uncommon in research centers specialized in materials, so having this equipment will provide ICIQ with a unique characterization capacity for research groups specialized in new materials. Furthermore, offering this new service will allow us to expand the portfolio of industrial clients in a plastic production area such as Tarragona.
The total budget for this equipment is €266,277.14, and the granted funding amounts to €133,138.57.
