The objective of this project is the acquisition of two automated liquid handling robots for the High Throughput Experimentation (HTE) Laboratory. One of the robots will be dedicated to the preparation of chemical reactions in multiwell plates. The second robot would be dedicated to processing the reactions once they are finished, by automating the process of reaction work up and the handling of the fractions once the reaction crudes have been purified by preparative liquid chromatography.
The acquisition of the two robots will enhance the capacity to prepare, process and purify reactions with precision and robustness. This will facilitate an increase in the output and the quality of the results of the HTE Unit, thereby accelerating the pace of reaction discovery, generation of chemical libraries, and the generation of high-quality data sets to feed AI/ML systems. The HTE laboratory at the ICIQ is unique among public research institutions in Spain, and the acquisition of the requested equipment would make it a competitive laboratory in the field of HTE, offering unique opportunities that have not been available to the Spanish scientific community until now.
The total budget for this equipment is €308,784.64, and the granted funding amounts to €154,392.32.
