We announce with regret the death of Prof. Rafael Suau, who died at the age of 65. We join the chemical community to transmit to his family and friends our most sincere condolences in these times of sorrow.

Professor Suau was born in Barcelona in 1945 and carried out most of his academic career at the University of Malaga where he was Full Professor in Organic Chemistry.

From a scientific point of view, Prof. Suau was a pioneer in introducing both photochemistry and modern photophysics and was highly interested in solving problems located in the always fine border-line between chemistry and biology. In a more personal aspect, he was an upright person, always trying to build bridges for the sake of good understanding and communication. We will all miss his loss.
