The Liebig Association of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) created the ‘Liebig Lectureship’ in 1999. This prize recognises the excellent work in organic chemistry of outstanding researchers from Europe and beyond. The Liebig Lecturer is awarded a scientific trip around Germany, where he will visit several universities and research centres in a unique conference tour.

In 2017, the Liebig Association selected ICIQ Group Leader Prof. Rubén Martín as the 2017 Liebig Lecturer, and his conference tour details will be announced soon. Prof. Martín’s prize is the third of its kind awarded to an ICIQ group leader since the creation of the Liebig Lectureship – Prof. Antonio Echavarren was awarded in 2006 and Prof. Paolo Melchiorre in 2008, a year before joining our institute.
