Prof. Melchiorre is a senior Group Leader at ICIQ and ICREA Professor. The aim of his research is to exploit the potential of Asymmetric Organocatalysis, where an inorganic element is not part of the active principle, in order to find cost-effective, environmentally benign and sustainable synthetic methods to assemble libraries of enantiopure, complex, chiral molecules embodying features of natural products that increase the probability of success in the identification of drug-candidate structures. The main emphasis is on discovery of new catalytic cascade reactions, and efficient assemble of diverse and medicinally important chemical structures.
Dr. Galán-Mascarós is a Group Leader in the ICIQ Tenure Track Program. His main research areas are synthesis, physical characterization and processing of transition-metal complexes of interest in Biology (metal-peptide interactions and models forprotein active sites) and Materials Sciences (multifunctional molecular materials).
