In the framework of the Premis Nacionals de Recerca 2012, the government of the Generalitat and the FCRI (Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació) have given ICIQ, Henkel and UAB the Premi Nacional for their public-private partnership. The Premis Nacionals de Recerca are conceived to promote the social acknowledgement of science and the work of researchers, sponsors, enterpreneurs and scientific communicators.
The Henkel-ICIQ Joint Unit is a collaborative research project between Henkel, global market leader in adhesives and surface treatment, and the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ). This collaboration aims at the development of high performance adhesives through novel trigger and cured reactions. The project is approached from both an experimental and computational viewpoint.
The Henkel-ICIQ Joint Unit was created in 2010 and it counts with the scientific assessment of several ICIQ group leaders. It also takes advange of ICIQ’s state-of-the art- equipment and research facilities. Currently, eight researchers are working in the unit’s lab under the supervision of Dr. Ligang Zhao, head of the unit.
In addition, Henkel collaborates with the UAB through its R+D and Advanced Technologies Laboratory which conducts research in adhesives and surface treatment.
