PHOTO-RX: Development of an industrialize MVP for versatile parallel photoreactors, reference 2019 PROD 00121 granted by the AGAUR, started on July 24th. The objectives of the project are:
i) develop a prototype for a new design of parallel photoreactors based on a modular “screen-approach”. This homogeneous smart-light-source will add control and calibration over the light-irradiation power and wavelength. This approach uncouples the light irradiation geometry from the reactor geometry, converting the smart-light-source in a general solution for synthesis from mg to hundreds of grams in batch or even in flow
ii) define a suitable business model and pricing strategy for the commercialization of the photoreactor and its accessories.
iii) commercialize the photoreactor through a spin-off company.
iv)study the freedom to operate for the commercialization of such reactors.
The technology is based on previous developments in the laboratories of Prof. Julio Lloret-Fillol, who is the project’s IP. The research team is also composed by Dr. Esther Alza (Scientific-Entrepreneur) and Carlos Agorreta (Engineer).
This project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union under the FEDER Operational Program of Catalonia 2014-2020. The project also has the financial support of the Secretaria d’Universitats i Recerca del Departament d’Empresa i Coneixement de la Generalitat de Catalunya“
