Bart Herlé, PhD student under the supervision of Prof. A. M. Echavarren, has received the OMCOS Poster Award for his poster entitled ‘Electrophilic Gold(I) Carbenes via Decarbenation of Cycloheptatrienes’.
The poster describes the work that has been done on the formation and reactivity of gold(I) carbenes, formed by the retro-Buchner -or decarbenation- reaction of 1,3,5-cycloheptatrienyl compounds.
The 18th IUPAC International Symposium on Organometallic Chemistry Directed Towards Organic Synthesis (OMCOS) took place last week (June 28 to July 2) in Sitges (Barcelona) and it gathered around 850 participantes from more than 40 countries. The organising committee was composed of ICIQ’s group leaders: A. M. Echavarren, K. Muñiz, R. Martín and M. A. Pericàs and of E. Fernández from URV.
