Jolt Solutions obtains the Innovative SME seal from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities in Spain

This important recognition brings impact in its sector, tax advantages and access to new public funding sources

Jolt Solutions, the ICIQ spin-off created as a result of research conducted by Prof. Julio Lloret-Fillol’s group, has been recognised as an Innovative SME by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities in Spain.

The company, which operates under an ICIQ patent license , fits the Ministry’s requirements and has received the seal, valid until 21st June, 2027 “due to the innovative nature of our electrode technology and the impact it can have on the green transition”, as stated from the company. During 2024, the ICIQ spin-off company opened its own production plant and is currently suppling the market.

This seal distinguishes companies with an innovative character, because they have received public funding, demonstrated their innovative capabilities through their activities, or obtained official certification related to their innovation capacity. Jolt team will now have access to new public competitive funding sources and tax advantages related to dedicated research staff, as well as significant recognition in the sector.

2024, the year of Jolt Solutions

Recently, the company was selected by the European Innovation Council (EIC) Scaling Club as one of the +120 promising deep technology companies from across Europe. This programme will support the selected scale-ups with fundraising, leadership mentoring and coaching, corporate partnership identification and matchmaking, media visibility and recruitment.

Moreover, as already mentioned, the company completed the construction and opened its own manufacturing facility in Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) at the beginning of 2024. This is the continuation of their success in rising more than 6 million euros funding during 2023 from investment groups such as Banco Santander, Climentum Capital, Ship2B Ventures and Axon Partners Group. Recently, the company has successfully scaled up its production process under the brand “Sparkfuze” to produce its electrodes for green chemicals.

The company also has increased its workforce. At the beginning of the year, Jolt Solutions CTO Dr. Alberto Bucci, stated that 12 people were working at Jolt. “The idea is to reach about 20 people by the end of the year”, he added, almost doubling the team.
