3rd November 2017 -
Alicia Monleón, postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Rubén Martín’s group, was one of the 30 scientist selected for this year’s edition of ‘Somos científicos, sácanos de aquí’, the Spanish edition of the prestigious international science outreach programme ‘I’m a scientist, get me out of here!‘
Thanks to this fantastic outreach programme, supported by FECYT, Bayer, CSIC, Ciudad Ciencia, and “la Caixa” is addressed to primary and secondary school students who challenge researchers from a huge variety of fields to answer all sort of questions in an online chat. Students can vote their favourite scientist, and the winner will get a €500 prize to use in an outreach initiative of their own.
Alicia is the second ICIQ participant in this programme after Ignacio Funes (Maseras’ group), who won the ‘Environment’ prize last year (2016) and will use his prize to launch a YouTube channel soon. This year’s ‘Somos científicos’ will take place from November 6th to November 17th. Alicia will chat in a multidisciplinary group of scientists –the magnesium zone– that includes researchers from other prestigious centres like the National Astronomical Observatory or the Basque Center on Cognition, Brain, and Language.
