The 2020 call of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowships programme (MSCA-IF-2020) has awarded eight postdoctoral researchers with Individual Fellowship grants to join ICIQ. All of the fellowships granted are “European standard,” which allows researchers to move from any country in the world to Spain. The new fellows are:
- Anna Beiler (Llobet group) will work on the SolTIME project
- Anders Hammarback (Echavarren group) will work on the GASGOLD project
- Balázs Tóth (Kleij group) will work on the FUSE project
- Rajamanickam Nagalingam (Palomares group) will work on the SpinPVK project
- Hangfei Tu (Suero group) will work on the LateCPC project
- Teo Wei Jie (Suero group) will work on the OleFluor project
- Will Hartley (Melchiorre group) will work on the PHOTO-ITU project
- Vasilis Tseliou (Melchiorre group) will work on the BIO-LIGHT project
Three of them are already at ICIQ:
Hangfei Tu, a postdoctoral researcher from the Suero group applied to this call because he sees it as an opportunity to realise his dream of becoming an independent researcher. “The MSCA fellowship is a great recognition and I cherish the opportunity it gives to me to transfer the knowledge I’ll generate between ICIQ and Novartis.”
Another ICIQ postdoc, Teo Wei Jie, also from the Suero group, thinks this is one of the most prestigious postdoc fellowships one can obtain. “Now I have the space and time to learn and pick up new knowledge and techniques from my supervisor through developing the proposal, which makes me feel settled for the next two years.”
The last one is Will Hartley from the Melchiorre group: “Now that I have been successful in the selection process, I feel relieved (as the proposal required significant effort in its preparation) and motivated to use all of the tools available at ICIQ to overcome any challenge my research project throws my way. I’m very much looking forward to the next two years!”
Intending to boost the careers of experienced postdoctoral researchers, the European Commission launched the Marie Sklodowska Curie Individual Fellowships (European and Global Fellowships) that allow high-level researchers to work abroad for a 12 to a 36-month project in an international and intersectoral framework. This year, from the 1,630 scientists that have been awarded fellowships, 209 will work at Spanish centres.
