Luis Martínez, PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Arjan Kleij, has defended his PhD Thesis entitled
“Molecular and Catalyst Design for Recognition and Activation of Small Molecules ” (assigned to the Organic and Analytical Chemistry Department of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili) publicly on November 2nd at the ICIQ Auditorium.
The members of the evaluation committee were: Prof. Maria Elena Fernández (Universitat Rovira i Virgili), Dr. Thomas Werner (Leibniz Institute for Catalysis at the University Rostock) and Prof. Véronique Dufaud (Université de Lyon).
Abstract
As a consequence of the increased consumption of fossil fuels new catalytic methods based on general, abundant and renewable feedstocks are needed. Small molecules, such as CO2 and H2O are emitted as industrial wastes on a massive scale, which makes their accessibility unlimited to construct more complex compounds.
