The XRE4S network is an ecosystem of 14 research centres and universities bringing together experts in the energy sector of Catalonia with the aim of promoting technology transfer and technology valorisation to industry and society.
With a firm commitment to accessibility and to create more attractive formats, during 2021, XRE4S has prepared a series of videos showcasing the work carried out by the experts that conform its network. The resulting 35 interviews can be accessed on XRE4S’ YouTube channel through the dedicated playlist #MeetTheExpert.
Two ICIQ groups take part in the network:
The Kleij group, centers its work around “Valorisation, activation and catalysis of small molecules” working on the project “Polymers made from CO2 and biomass.”
The Llobet group, also known as the “Redox catalysis group” (RED-CAT) works on “Electroanodes for hydrogen production.”
In 2019, the R & D & I Network Advanced Materials for Energy (XaRMAE, for its name in Catalan), evolved into the Network Energy for Society (XRE4S), with the aim of expanding its thematic scope to all areas of Energy and becoming a transversal and interdisciplinary network to promote the energy transition at the Catalan and international levels. The network aims to create a transfer ecosystem between research and the productive and social environment in the energy sector as a key element for improving its competitiveness and contribute to the deployment of a low-carbon society.
Formed by 35 research groups from 14 Catalan universities, technology and research centres, the network brings together over 520 researchers, 29% of which are women.
The XR4ES has designed a valorisation and transfer programme to increase the impact of technology transfer in Catalonia and turn the region into an international energy innovation hub. The programme includes the creation of a transfer ecosystem; launch of challenges and networking activities; advice on valorisation and technology transfer as well as the training of researchers.
