Jesús San José Orduna, PhD student from the Pérez-Temprano group, has been selected as one of the 2019 CAS Future Leaders. He will be joining an elite group of 30 post and pre doctoral researchers from all around the world. Together they will visit the CAS headquarters in Columbus (Ohio) and attend the ACS National Meeting San Diego (California) in August 2019.
The programme’s goal is to give the participants the chance to forge connections with potential research partners, gain exposure to global perspectives and be inspired by some of the best young minds in chemistry. The participants were chosen from a competitive field of applicants from top institutions and labs around the world, and will receive – aside from attending the ACS Fall National Meeting & Exposition and visiting the CAS headquarters in Columbus – a three-year ACS membership, a certificate of distinction and 1000 USD.
The CAS Future Leaders programme is a very competitive programme, this year’s participants were selected among hundreds of applicants from 16 countries and across a wide array of scientific disciplines. The applicants had to send their CV, motivation letter and an essay where they explained their current research projects and future goals and the value of SciFinder or other information solutions to their research. San José Orduna will be the only Spanish representative in this year’s class of Future Leaders, and will only be the third Spanish in the programme’s 10-year lifespan – one of them being Fernando Gomollón Bel, former ICIQ Science Communicator.
