Research groups from the three entities shared advances in research and innovation across the hydrogen value chain and CO2 capture and utilization technologies
Around a hundred researchers from the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ), the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), and Eurecat came together this Wednesday 29th May to present their research and innovation work, which spans the entire renewable hydrogen value chain (production, transport, storage, and uses) and CO2 capture and utilization technologies. In the Forum H2-CO2 it was presented the work done by the groups of Prof. Núria López and Prof. Julio Lloret-Fillol.
My presentation was focused on our innovative, cost-effective electrode preparation method for green hydrogen production, which we have developed and refined over the past five years. Our sustained efforts have resulted in numerous landmark publications, patents, and associated spin-offs.
Dr. Aswin Gopakumar, Postdoctoral Researcher from Prof. Lloret-Fillol’s grou
This is the second forum organized in this hub of reference for research, innovation, and socialization in decarbonization. During the event it was highlighted the growing collaboration between the research groups from ICIQ, URV and Eurecat in various projects and with companies.
At II URV-ICIQ-Eurecat internal Forum on H2-CO2, investigators from all 3 entities have shared our visions and built synergies between our works on this topic. I have also been able to explain my group’s contribution to the understanding of catalyst-electrolyte interfaces during heterogeneous eCO2RR from a computational point of view.
Enric Ibáñez Alé, PhD Student from Prof. Núria López’ group.
In the opening remarks, URV Rector Prof. Josep Pallarès, ICIQ Director Prof. Emilio Palomares, and Eurecat Director of Technology and Innovation Myriam García-Berro emphasized the unique knowledge potential formed by these three institutions to advance the challenges framed within the climate emergency. They also highlighted the need for more involvement and funding from the administrations, aware that the Tarragona area is a unique environment to become a hub of research, innovation, education, and industrial transformation in decarbonization at an international level.
