ICIQ has been awarded the Iberquimia award in the category of Innovation for its commitment to “the transfer of technology to the chemical, pharmaceutical and energy industrial sectors, as well as for the training of scientists and researchers.” “This award is a recognition to the institute and its scientists, whose research contributes to improving the quality of life of society,” highlighted Dr. Laia Pellejà, administrative and communications director of ICIQ.
The awards ceremony took place on April 28 in Tarragona, during Iberquimia, a chemical industry congress organized by the publishing group Infoedita and sponsored by Expoquimia.
Professor Emilio Palomares, ICIQ director and group leader, received the award and took the opportunity to highlight the work undertaken by the institute to transfer knowledge into industry and to promote and recruit talent. Also participating in the awards ceremony were Eva Mejicano, manager of DSS+, who received the Security Award on behalf of the multinational DUPONT, and Eduardo Loma-Ossorio Gómez, Territorial Sales Manager for Carburos Metálicos, who received the Sustainability Award for placing innovation and sustainability at the centre of its business and being at the forefront of technologies such as the capture and reuse of CO2.
Iberquimia is a key congress for the chemical industry that annually brings together professionals in the field to reflect on global challenges and opportunities. In the 2022 edition, Maria Mas Chacón, managing director of the Chemical Business Association of Tarragona (AEQT) has been in charge of opening the congress and giving way to the three planned tables grouped into three plotlines: energy efficiency, environment and safety and, industry 4.0. and industrial maintenance.
