Palau de Congressos of Tarragona hosted the conference “Beyond Marie Curie” to promote women’s research in Tarragona.
The initiative of Fundació Tarragona Cultura i Coneixement in collaboration with Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera seeks to promote the role of women in Tarragona’s science scene.
Students from Institut Tarragona and La Salle Tarragona took part of the act which has begun at 10 a.m. with a round table of researchers from Rovira I Virgili University, the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology (ICAC), the Pere Virgili Institute for Health Research (IISPV) and Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ).
ICIQ’s representatives Imma Escofet, Gala Ogalla and Laura Lerena who work with Prof. Antonio M. Echavarren explained the day-to-day tasks of working in a research institute but also about their scientific career.
Moreover, another panel with the participation of other researchers of Foundation University-Institute for Primary Health Care Research Jordi Gol (IDIAP JGol) and the Catalan Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution (IPHES) has discussed about the main challenges of women carrying out a research career.
The event has counted with the participation of students who have interacted with the speakers resulting in a fruitful conversation.
