The Chemical Reaction Technologies Unit at the institute provides technical support in the reaction process to companies and industries, including reaction parallelisation, reaction scale-up, in-situ reaction monitoring, gas reactions and reactions performed in microflow reactors.
Chemical Reaction Technologies offers its services to companies and industries that seek specialized equipment to run chemical reactions. The centre possesses the capability to adapt its methodologies to meet the unique requirements of each reaction, delivering tailored solutions efficiently. The extensive range of equipment holds considerable value for a wide range of industries, including pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and polymer manufacturing companies, among others.
The Chemical Reaction Technologies Unit is well equipped to face reactions involving gases. It counts with two laboratories specially equipped to run reactions using gases, either in high pressure conditions or not, and has a wide collection of reactors of different volumes and materials, to handle almost any kind of chemical in different scales.
The collection of pressure reactors also includes a special parallel reactor that allows the user running 16 reactions at the same time while monitoring them, either by gas uptake measurement or sampling. Monitoring reactions under pressure conditions can also be done in a special reactor by FT-IR or in a special tube by NMR.
If we talk about activating reactions using different energy sources, Chemical Reaction Technologies Unit has also something to say, as can provide microwave and photochemical reactors.
Regarding reaction scale up, we can offer a 6 litres reactor automatically controlled and monitored, with a large cooling capacity, ideal to explore processes in the earliest stage of the scale-up or to synthetize large quantities of products from a laboratory scale point of view. To scale up some kind of reactions, the institute can also offer micro flow reactors, with the added advantages linked to flow chemistry, as rapid head and mass transfer, improved safety or increased reaction rates.
The Chemical Reaction Technologies Unit makes also available for the user an evaporator of metals and organic molecules, installed in a clean room (ISO 7); the clean room is also available for any other purpose compatible with the current installation.
In summary, ICIQ will not only make all this instrumentation available to the user but will also help in the design of a new setup or application with the goal of helping you run your chemical reactions.
