ICIQ – Innovation & Valorisation Laboratory, ICIQ – Medicinal Chemistry and ICIQ – Crysforma work together to reach the best solution in every project

ICIQ Knowledge and Technology Transfer area (KTT) is the bridge between the research carried out at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ – CERCA) and the society, transferring ICIQ know-how, technology and applications through the market. Now the area presents a new image to explain better its transversal mission, and the way all its units collaborate to reach the best solution for clients and research groups from the Institute.

ICIQ-KTT works with different units specialized in pharmaceutical processes and innovation and valorisation projects. These units have a collaborative and transversal approach, and usually are involved in the same projects from different perspectives to offer optimal solutions to clients. They collaborate with companies, industries, research centers, and universities to drive innovation in sustainability, energy, and healthcare. Working closely with researchers, businesses, and investors, they ensure that scientific advancements translate into tangible solutions for the benefit of society.

Since ICIQ main goal is to carry out new research at the edge of the knowledge frontier related to main global challenges as Sustainable Catalysis, Renewable Energies and Health, KTT area also works with the same goals. In this sense, the ICIQ – Innovation & Valorisation Laboratory transfers ICIQ technology from research groups to society and develops industrial projects with partners through contract research or competitive grants. They have expertise in technology incubation and valorisation, IP protection, licensing, and spin-offs creation to perform this technology transfer mission.

In particular, ICIQ develops contract research projects with partners related to CO₂ Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), Artificial Photosynthesis, Hydrogen and Sustainable Fuels, Materials and Polymers and Solar Cells.

ICIQ – Medicinal Chemistry and ICIQ – Crysforma are two specialised units in health and pharmaceutical services. On one hand, the medicinal chemistry team has expertise in drug discovery and development, custom synthesis and molecular modelling. And on the other hand, ICIQ – Crysforma provide services in solid state development such as polymorphism analysis, salts and co-crystals screening, and crystallization services.
