The accreditation is a recognition of ICIQ effort for science communication, dissemination, and education, and it is promoted by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
This year the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ-CERCA) has been accredited as a member of the Network of Units of Scientific Culture and Innovation (UCC+i), through the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), under the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
Being a member of the UCC+i Network is a recognition of the work done in communicating science by ICIQ, accredited as a UCC+i that communicates R&D&I results and as a UCC+i that disseminates scientific and technological knowledge. On one hand, the ICIQ Communications and Image Unit contributes every year to the generation of research news that impacts media. In 2023, more than 700 impacts were generated in the written press, radio and television, with an audience of more than 265 million people.
On the other hand, the ICIQ Science Outreach & Education Unit work to disseminate research to different audiences and only in 2023 offered more than 30 activities, reaching more than 4500 people.
This recognition underscores our commitment to scientific communication, dissemination, and education, and validates our efforts in conveying the importance of research and innovation to wider audiences, bridging the gap between research and society.

UCC+i Network
UCC+i act as intermediaries between their host institutions and citizens, with the main aim of promoting scientific, technological and innovation culture though different types of activities: scientific communication, outreach, training, etc.
They have become one of the main agents for the dissemination and sharing of science and innovation in Spain and are a key service for improving and increasing the scientific training, culture and knowledge of citizens.
The aim of the UCC+i Network is to promote the exchange of experiences and the search for synergies between entities, thus improving the quality of the products and services of the UCC+i and promoting the optimisation of resources.
