Madrid, Nov. 20th- The Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) bestowed Research Excellence Awards on professors Núria López, Kilian Muñiz and Rubén Martín.
Núria López, Kilian Muñiz and Rubén Martín received the Premio a la Excelencia Investigadora. The award recognizes the scientific achievements of the awardees in the last five years. Prof. López, ERC grant holder, works on atomistic simulations to understand the mechanisms that govern chemical processes in heterogeneous catalysis; Prof. Muñiz, ICREA Research Professor, is developing a new methodology for oxidative amination of hydrocarbons and Prof. Martín, ICREA Research Professor and ERC grant holder, focuses his research on the discovery of new catalytic methods for the synthesis of relevant molecules through the activation of inert entities.
“These awards show the excellent research we are carrying out at ICIQ. I’m really proud of ICIQ researchers. Thanks to their work ICIQ has become an international leading institution in chemical research in just 10 years!” said ICIQ director, Miquel A. Pericàs, who also attended the awards ceremony.
The RSEQ also awarded Julio Lloret-Fillol with one of the Premios a Jóvenes Investigadores for his promising leadership in his field of expertise: Solar fuels production and new light-driven catalytic transformations of organic substrates. He received the award during the “Simposio de Jóvenes Investigadores” held in Barcelona on November 3-6, 2015 .
