The Chemical & Engineering News journal of the American Chemical Society selected Dr. Josep Cornella, former postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Martin’s group, among the Talented 12 chemists of 2020. As a catalyst specialist, he received the recognition for making reagents that give chemists better, faster, and more efficient reactions. Dr. Cornella is currently a group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Kohlenforschung (Germany).
Since 2015, C&EN annually selects 12 promising young chemists from academia and the industrial sector around the world. The Talented 12 will each give a snapshot of their life and research during a symposium on Aug. 25, 2020, as part of C&EN’s Futures Festival, presented by ACS.
The “Talented 12” were chosen by C&EN’s staff members, Talented 12 alumni, and members of the global chemistry community from a pool of more than 500 nominees. Early-career researchers are selected based on their efforts to seek solutions to the challenges that C&EN itself describes as “most problematic” within the field of chemical research.
