For the first time we celebrated the OpenData Day event. The initiative led by Professor Carles Bo around open data brought together a hundred people at ICIQ facilities.
The aim of promoting open data initiatives in the field of science is fundamental to make knowledge accessible and improve its quality, according to European directives.
The conference featured renowned experts such as Roger Cabezas from CERCA Institution, Lluís Anglada from CSUC and Mercè Crosas from Barcelona SuperComputing Center, who focused their sessions on the importance of establishing institutional policies to establish open science in our society.
The second part of the day was a space for exchange of good practices and other initiatives, which included presentations by Núria Raga from CSUC about CORA, and Moisés Àlvarez and Aleix Mariné from ICIQ about ioChem-BD and the implementation of digitalization at ICIQ.
In the afternoon, a practical part further emphasized the value of the work done so far in the field of open data. The final hands-on part provided an opportunity to test Signals e-notebook, eChemPad and ioChem-BD under the guidance of Imma Escofet, Aleix Mariné and Moisés Àlvarez respectively.
From ICIQ we are open to welcome more initiatives in Open Data from other research centres for next editions in the future.
