Dr. David Hermann Lamparelli, a postdoctoral researcher working in Prof. Kleij’s group, has won the 2022 “Cinzia Chiappe prize” awarded by the Interdivisional group in Green Chemistry, Sustainable Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI). The award aims to recognize the two best PhD theses in Italy in the area of Green Chemistry, Sustainable Chemistry. The second half of the prize has been awarded to Dr. Federica Moccia from the University of Napoli.
The researcher has been awarded for his thesis entitled “New elastomeric materials obtained by bio-sourced monomers for high-performance tires,” conducted under the supervision of Prof. Carmine Capacchioneat the University of Salerno in collaboration with Technische Universität München (TUM) and Pirelli & C. S.p.A. His work focused on the development of new rubber materials starting from linear terpenes for tire manufacturing.
Dr. Lamparelli received the award on June 22nd, during the assembly of the Green Chemistry, Sustainable Chemistry group. As part of the recognition, the awardees gave a keynote presentation.
