Dr. Casadevall has joined ICIQ as a ”la Caixa” Junior Leader. This fellowship programme aims to foster high-quality, innovative research and to support the best scientific talent by providing them with an attractive and competitive environment in which to conduct excellent research.
After obtaining her PhD in 2019 at ICIQ, she worked for three years as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge in the group of Prof. Erwin Reisner developing biohybrid catalysts for sustainable solar fuel production using, water and carbon dioxide as feedstock. Now, she will lead the project “Catalyst-functionalized polymeric microreactors for the production of solar fuels and chemicals.”
The goal of the ”la Caixa” Junior Leader programme is to hire excellent researchers of any nationality who wish to continue their research career in Spain or Portugal in the STEM area. By means of a complementary training programme, these fellowships are intended to consolidate the research skills of the fellows and to foster their independent scientific careers. This way, the Junior Leader fellows have to pursue a mandatory secondment in a different institution to increase their transversal skills. These secondments, with a duration between three to six months, must be performed in an international or intersectorial institution.
Dr. Casadevall is the third researcher to join ICIQ as a ”la Caixa” Junior Leader, after Dr. Villa and Dr. Juliá.
