On Thursday 15th December took place the ICIQ Christmas Celebration 2022.
After 2 years because of pandemic, we could finally have a big celebration with no restrictions.
As in previous years, since 2012 we have the tradition of the Door Decoration Contest. A total of 8 doors / teams were participating this year. The most voted was the Prof. Galán-Mascarós lab with 390 votes, followed very closely by the door of the Administrative Support Unit (with 375 votes).
The celebration started with a talk by Joan Guillem Mayans and Ailende Eigbefoh-Addeh Imafidon, from the Outreach team, entitled “Science or science fiction?” for all audiences. It gathered more than 150 people, who filled the auditorium.
After, our director, Prof. Emilio Palomares said a few words with good wishes for the coming year.
The career of 4 employees who have been part of the ICIQ for 10 years was also recognized: Jesús Mojío, Gemma Aragay, Sara García and Aurora Càceres.
The winners of the door competition were announced, and we also had a special mention to each participating team for their dedication.
The morning session ended with a toast for everyone.
For lunch, a fideuà was cooked on the terrace of the ICIQ. It was a show cooking experience, very curious for many employees, to see the cooking process from the beginning to the end.
After lunch, we improvised a disco with karaoke in the auditorium.
At 5.30pm, the party was dedicated to the youngest. The children of ICIQ staff came to make the Tió poo. Some were already experts and others were living the experience for the first time. Tió is a Catalan tradition and was enjoyed by both young and old people.
To end the party, we had some hot chocolate and continued with the music.
The Tió is already saying goodbye to the ICIQ until next year.
All ICIQ team wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
