In 2012 ChemComm became the first chemistry journal to publish 100 issues in a year. To celebrate this exciting new era, ChemComm is publishing a new type of article; Viewpoints will highlight some of the seminal research published in ChemComm and its predecessors over the last 100 years.
One of this Viewpoint articles focuses on research published by ICIQ Group Leader Piet van Leeuwen back in 1992.
The communication, published in Chemical Communications, centers on Silane Dendrimers. The paper described a divergent synthesis of carbosilane dendrimers that is still widely used today.
This publication was a stepping stone for research on carbosilane dendrimers, and despite over 20 years having passed since the initial report, this method is still the primary method in use.
A durable template for carbosilane dendrimer synthesis
