The consolidation of this public-private alliance until 2026 strengthens synergies to promote top-level training and innovation in the sector
BASF Group and Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ-CERCA) have reaffirmed their commitment to fostering excellence in chemical research training and innovation through the renewal of their collaboration agreement until 2026. Carles Navarro, Managing Director of BASF Española, and Prof. Emilio J. Palomares Gil, director of ICIQ, formalized this alliance today at the headquarters of ICIQ in Tarragona. Through this agreement, both institutions aim to create a research ecosystem that fosters innovation and drives positive changes in the chemical industry.
Under the renewed agreement, BASF will continue to support various programmes and initiatives at ICIQ, including the BASF Seminar Programme, launched in 2004. This initiative stands as a testament to the strong collaboration, offering a series of specialized seminars aligned with ICIQ’s research areas. Led by international experts, each session serves as a platform for sharing valuable insights and explore cutting-edge trends in chemistry. This collaborative effort seeks to cultivate the next generation of leaders in chemical research, facilitating breakthroughs that address critical industry challenges.
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with ICIQ, which has proven to be instrumental in driving innovation and excellence in chemical research”, stated Carles Navarro, Managing Director of BASF Española. “Through initiatives like the BASF Seminar Programme we aim to empower emerging talents and foster the development of scientific careers”.
Furthermore, BASF and ICIQ will persist in their joint endeavour with the BASF-ICIQ Awards in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, recognizing innovation and talent in the field of chemistry across the Iberian Peninsula. This collaborative initiative extends its impact beyond academia, driving societal progress in pivotal areas such as catalysis, renewable energies, and health.
The renewal of the partnership between BASF and ICIQ underscores the enduring commitment of both organizations to fostering talent and promoting excellence in chemical research. Through their continued collaboration, BASF and ICIQ aim to create a vibrant research ecosystem that nurtures innovation and drives positive change in the chemical industry.
“Our ongoing partnership with BASF exemplifies the synergy between industry and academia in driving impactful innovation”, remarked Prof. Emilio J. Palomares Gil, ICIQ’s director. “Together, we are committed to advancing research and education, paving the way for a sustainable future”.
The reaffirmation of the collaboration between BASF and ICIQ serves as a testament to the power of public-private partnerships in advancing scientific excellence and underscores the critical importance of investment in research and education for a thriving chemical industry.
