ICIQ participates in this summer science campus organized by the Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera. The BIYSC -Barcelona International Youth Science Challenge- aims to gather students from all over the world who share a passion for science. Participants are invited to meet in Barcelona from July 11th to 22nd to work in different research projects led by renowned scientists in the fields of biomedicine, genetics, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry, evolutionary biology, photonics, robotics, nanotechnology and bioethics.
ICIQ is offering the research project entitled “From Molecules into Electricity.” Students enrolled in this project will learn how to prepare organic molecules and devices that can be used to transform the sunlight into electrical power. They will be challenged to synthesize two organic molecules, build a complete photovoltaic device and measure different parameters of these devices and its efficiency. Students will also use their own photovoltaic device to obtain hydrogen from water and to power several toys and funs.
