Open LICROX Symposium

Symposium 18/07/2023 at 09:00 | ICIQ Auditorium

📆 18th July, 2023

📍 ICIQ Auditorium

The LICROX project is funded by the European Comission within the FET (Future Emerging Technologies) Proactive programme of Horizon 2020.

We invite you to join us for an exciting day of knowledge sharing as the final results and conclusions of this three-years project are set to be presented. The event, organised by the LICROX Project in collaboration with the Institut Català d’Investigació Química (ICIQ), promises to be an opportunity to delve into artificial photosynthesis.

Towards the end, attendees will have the opportunity to visit ICIQ facilities where the LICROX team is testing the photoelectrochemical cell (PEC) for converting sunlight, water and carbon dioxide (CO₂) into carbon-based molecules containing 1 carbon (C1) or 2 carbons (C2), capable of storing chemical energy.

Agenda

09:00 – 09:15 Welcome by ICIQ’s Director (Emilio Palomares)

09:15 – 10:15 Open Lectures by LICROX External Advisory Board

  • 09:15 – 09:35 “The future energy systems needs for energy storage in green molecules”, Maximilian Fleischer, Siemens Energy (online)
  • 09:35 – 09:55 “De Nora’s role in Energy Transition and Carbon Capture and Utilization”, Anna Ramuni, DeNora
  • 09:55 – 10:15 “Organic-inorganic hybrid materials for solar to fuel conversion”, Carolina Gimbert, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB)

10:15 – 10:45 Coffee break

10:45 – 11:30 Overview LICROX project and final results (LICROX Work Package Leaders)

11:30 – 12:00 Visit ICIQ facilities

The project targets the formation of ethylene, one of the products mostly used by chemical industries for the production of polymers and other materials. The PEC will be constructed in a compact tandem structure consisting of a photoanode, a semi-transparent organic solar cell, and a cathode for a broadband absorption of sunlight to achieve high current densities. These photoelectrodes will be coupled to catalysts composed of nanoparticles (NPs) or molecular complexes of non-noble metals (Cu, Fe, Co) to drive the water oxidation and carbon dioxide reduction (CO2R) reactions in an aqueous electrolyte at near-neutral pH.

🔗 We look forward to welcoming you to the LICROX Symposium, where knowledge meets innovation and connections are made. Register now here to attend (Deadline: July 13th).
