Abstract

The reactions of transition metal complexes with ligands bearing heavy main atoms reveal novel mechanisms that are unknown to carbon chemistry. This is associated with the ability of the heavy atoms to become hyper or hypovalent. This will be illustrated by describing the computational studies of reactions with Si and Sn bearing ligands.
