Homogeneous catalysis based on transition metals has revolutionized the construction of chemical bonds in organic synthesis, enabling fast and direct construction of molecular complexity. However, issues about the over-exploitation, price and toxicity of noble metals have led chemists to devise alternative strategies based on more abundant elements. In this sense, our group is focused on the use of Ni and Bi as catalysts to unlock new reactivity and provide practical, efficient and sustainable technologies for organic synthesis.
