ioChem-BD

Open-Data for Computational Chemistry and Materials Science

Project description

The ioChem-BD project fosters the adoption of good-practices in research data management and the generation of FAIR data in the field of computational chemistry and materials science.

This project intends to go beyond the generation of open data, transforming the way digital repositories should work, and creating additional services to accelerate new chemical discoveries. Overall, it is aimed to develop a more attractive way to produce open science.

The objectives of the project are:

  • SO1. Prospect about researchers’ FAIR data real needs, testing the current platform and the final state of the project.
  • SO2. Develop software tools to foster user proficiencies and implement data quality control features
  • SO3. Develop software tools to contribute to the adoption of FAIR data principles in the computational chemistry and materials science community

The first impact of this project is that it will integrate the community’s understanding of how research data is produced, stored, and made FAIR, and how the project should evolve for being useful and adaptable in the future. This will improve the capacities of the project in parallel with institutions that produce cutting- edge research. Secondly, users will be able to improve their capabilities towards new data- driven research thanks to the platform tools.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101122283
