Gold-catalyzed allyl-allyl coupling

Cationic gold(I) complexes efficiently catalyze the intramolecular allyl-allyl coupling of allyl acetates with allylstannanes with excellent stereoselectivity (see scheme). This reaction is mechanistically very different from that catalyzed by palladium.
