The last 9th and 10th April OHPERA partners met to review the last months’ progress and plan the next period.
OHPERA’s General Assembly took place on April 9th and 10th, 2024, at the Institut Català d’Investigació Química (ICIQ-CERCA), marking the 18-month milestone since the project started. ICIQ is directly involved in this EU-funded project as a consortium partner, with the participation of Prof. Núria López’s research group.
The event began with an overview of the project by the coordinating partner, the University Jaume I (UJI), which provided a detailed summary of the significant objectives, milestones, and deliverables accomplished so far. Following that, presentations from each Work Package (WP) leader showcased the advancements made in their respective areas of focus
The second day of the event addressed aspects such as day-to-day management, financial considerations and participation in the EIC – Hydrogen Portfolio. As one of the actions of the portfolio, which gathers nine EU-funded projects, ICIQ hosted last autumn the “Hydrogen Horizons” event.
As mentioned by Prof. Núria López: “Consortium meetings are key to facilitate open discussions, foster collaborations and exchange technical insights among partners. OHPERA advances on different areas of the development of the catalyst, the device and the technoeconomical assessment. Moreover, we discussed other activities related to the EIC – Hydrogen Portfolio.”
About OHPERA
OHPERA stands for Optimised Halide Perovskite nanocrystalline based Electrolyser for clean, Robust, efficient and decentrAlised production of H2. The main goal of the project is to develop a proof-of-concept unbiased tandem PEC cell to simultaneously achieve efficient solar-driven H2 production at the cathode and high added-value chemicals from valorisation of industrial waste (glycerol) at the anode, being sunlight the only energy input.
Its consortium comprises 6 partners from Spain, Germany, Hungary and Israel. It includes the participation of 2 research institutes (Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and ICIQ), 2 universities (UJI, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev – BGU), and 2 SMEs (LOMARTOV and eChemicles Zrt), providing comprehensive coverage of the entire value chain from both scientific and industrial perspectives.
The project is funded by the Horizon Europe R&I programme with a total budget of around 3.2M€, under the schemes of the European Innovation Council (EIC) Pathfinder calls, which support R&D of emerging breakthrough technologies.
