Is your company looking for assistance or support during the drug development process? Are you filling a patent application and need additional information to protect your drug molecule? Do you need to modify your crystal properties? Have you been trying to crystallize a molecule for long time with no results? If you feel identified with some of those questions, then just have a look about what Crysforma can offers you.

From analysis and scale-up of polymorphs, to an own crystallization screening methodology, this technology development unit at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ-CERCA) is an essential support to the Pharmaceutical and Chemical Industry.

Operative since 2005, Crysforma provides support in different stages of the process of bringing a new drug to market, mainly in getting information about the molecule’s solid state, such as analysing the crystals, their structure and their physico-chemical properties. Herein, the different technologies and know-how of Crysforma are applied to optimize the drug development procedures.

Crysforma has developed its own crystallization screening methodology based on the combination of several crystallization techniques and the individual monitoring of the experiments to maximize the information extracted from each crystallization. This is undoubtedly a clue field of knowledge for the pharmaceutical industry.

Crysforma is the unique technology development unit specialized in this area of expertise in Tarragona and one of the most experienced in Europe. There exist three main practical applications for their study lines:

  • The modification of the solid state properties of active compounds to obtain the most suitable for the desired application.
  • The optimization of crystallization processes to improve the development stages.
  • The IP protection of new generated solid forms.

The unit offers a broad catalogue of services that suits the requirements and the objectives of the industry and our customers to provide an excellent service.

To support their studies, Crysforma takes advantage of the ICIQ Scientific Core Facilities Area, that provides access to state of the art techniques in X-ray Diffraction, Chromatography, Thermal Analysis, Electrochemistry, Spectroscopy or Material Characterization.

Crysforma aims go through bringing companies an optimal compromise between the quantity and quality of scientific results, the costs, and the timing to fit into the drug development.
