After graduating from high school in 2010, Marc started an apprenticeship as a chemical laboratory assistant, which he completed in 2013. His focus there was in the R&D NMR department. Afterwards, he started studying chemistry in Marburg, where he graduated in 2016 with Prof. Meggers. Under Prof. Meggers, he worked on chiral-at-metal iridium complexes. This was followed by a Master’s degree in 2018 with Prof. Koert, where he then completed his PhD in the area of natural product synthesis of chromone-based natural products using polycarbonyl compounds from 2018 to 2022.
